Eric Hougan

Dr. Hougan’s passion is to ensure the next generation of educators reflects the communities they serve and are pedagogically strong and equity focused. He is an assistant professor in the teacher preparation program at Central Washington University and earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Washington. Also, Dr. Hougan obtained National Board Certification.

Dr. Hougan has worked to diversify the teacher workforce, primarily through grow-your-own (GYO) teacher academy efforts. He launched the Renton School District’s teacher academy and is now the university partner to support this effort. At the state-level, he has worked with PESB as a collaborative researcher and participates on several education workgroups. Dr. Hougan is a board member of PDK, International.
